KPOP is an immersive musical with a book by Jason Kim and music and lyrics by Max Vernon and Helen Park. The musical made its world premiere at Ars Nova in New York on September 5th 2017 and ran until October 21st. The production combines dance, music and a story giving the audience an insight into the backstage tour of a Korean pop music factory. The off Broadway production won a Lucille Lortel Award in 2018 for Outstanding Musical and Ashley Park (Mean Girls, Grand Horizons) won Outstanding Lead actress in a musical and Jason Tam (Be More Chill, A Chorus Line) for Outstanding Featured Actor in a Musical.
As a result of the COVID-19 global lockdown enforcements the producers have announced a virtual casting call to find the stars for their upcoming Broadway production.
Their production page says “We are searching the world for talented performers for an exhilarating new Broadway show that takes a fictional look inside the KPOP universe”.
The producers are searching for talented performers of Asian decent in their 20’s. If you think you have what it takes then the audition requirements request sending a video of yourself singing a contemporary K-Pop song, a video featuring your dancing abilities and a resume detailing your performance experience.
