Jeremy Jordan to Replace Jonathan Groff in Broadway’s Just in Time

Jeremy Jordan is set to step into the role of music legend Bobby Darin on Broadway, taking over from Jonathan Groff in the biographical musical Just in Time later this spring.

Jordan will begin performances on April 21 at the Circle in the Square Theatre, just weeks after concluding his run as Jay Gatsby in The Great Gatsby. Groff, who originated the role of Darin and earned a Tony Award nomination for his performance, will play his final show on March 29.

The casting marks another high profile Broadway moment for Jordan, whose recent return to The Great Gatsby followed his acclaimed turn in Floyd Collins, a performance that also earned him a Tony nomination. His Broadway résumé includes Bonnie & Clyde, Newsies, West Side Story, and Rock of Ages, alongside notable Off Broadway work in Little Shop of Horrors. He has also appeared extensively on screen, with roles in Supergirl, Smash, and Hazbin Hotel, and fronts the rock band Age of Madness.

Just in Time charts Bobby Darin’s rise from teen idol to international star, exploring both his career and personal life while featuring a catalogue of his most recognisable songs, including “Beyond the Sea,” “Mack the Knife,” “Splish Splash,” and “Dream Lover.” The production has been developed over several years and is staged to reflect Darin’s determination to control his artistic path while racing against time.

The musical is developed and directed by Alex Timbers, with a creative team that includes book writers Warren Leightand Isaac Oliver, music supervision and arrangements by Andrew Resnick, orchestrations by Resnick and Michael Thurber, choreography by Shannon Lewis, scenic design by Derek McLane, costume design by Catherine Zuber, lighting design by Justin Townsend, and sound design by Peter Hylenski.

The production also stars Sarah Hyland, Sadie Dickerson, Michele Pawk, Joe Barbara, Emily Bergl, Lance Roberts, Caesar Samayoa, Claire Camp, Julia Grondin, Valeria Yamin, John Treacy Egan, Tari Kelly, Matt Magnusson, Khori Michelle Petinaud, and Larkin Reilly.

Groff’s original Broadway cast recording performance in Just in Time has also received awards recognition, with the album currently nominated for Best Musical Theater Album at the 2026 Grammy Awards.

With Jordan preparing to bring his own interpretation to the role of Darin, the production is expected to evolve while continuing its run through September 6, maintaining momentum as one of Broadway’s notable musical offerings this season.
