Bringing F. Scott Fitzgerald’s timeless novel to life for the first time on Broadway, this new musical captures the opulence, ambition, and heartache of the Jazz Age. The story follows Gatsby’s relentless pursuit of his lost love, Daisy, amid a world of wealth and intrigue. With original music and lyrics by Tony nominees Jason Howland and Nathan Tysen, a book by Jonathan Larson Grant winner Kait Kerrigan, and direction by Marc Bruni, the show has already won praise for its grand production design and choreography by Dominique Kelley.
The production boasts a world-class creative team, including Drama Desk Award-winning scenic and projection designer Paul Tate de Poo III, Tony Award-winning costume designer Linda Cho, sound designer Brian Ronan, lighting designer Cory Pattak, and hair and wig designers Charles G. LaPointe and Rachael Geier. Arrangements and orchestrations are by Jason Howland, with music production by Grammy winner Billy Jay Stein.
Following a record-breaking world premiere at Paper Mill Playhouse in 2023, The Great Gatsby was brought to Broadway due to overwhelming demand. The original run shattered ticket sales records, selling out before its first performance and securing its place as Paper Mill’s highest-grossing show.
Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby, published in 1925, remains one of the world’s best-selling novels, with over 30 million copies sold globally and continued popularity in various adaptations. This Broadway premiere promises to captivate audiences anew, blending Fitzgerald’s classic tale with the musical grandeur befitting the Great American Novel.
Fans can still catch Jordan in his remaining performances through January. The Great Gatsby continues to shine as a must-see production, bringing the Jazz Age to vibrant life on Broadway.
