It’s Official: Stranger Things is Bringing the Upside Down to Broadway

The stage play based on the Netflix series Stranger Things premiered in London’s West End last year, and now it’s officially heading to Broadway. Stranger Things: The First Shadow, inspired by and serving as a prequel to the hit Netflix series, will transfer to Broadway’s Marquis Theatre. Performances are set to begin on March 28, 2025, with the opening night scheduled for April 22.

There are unconfirmed reports that this play is the first of a planned trilogy, with additional productions expected in both London and Broadway. More details on these follow-up titles are anticipated.

Pre-sale tickets for the Broadway run will be available starting September 13, with registration open at StrangerThingsBroadway.com. General ticket sales will commence on September 17.

Stephen Daldry and Justin Martin, who directed the London premiere, will helm the Broadway production, reuniting with their full creative team. The team includes scenic designer Miriam Buether, costume designer Brigitte Reiffenstuel, lighting designer Jon Clark, sound designer Paul Arditti, composer and music supervisor D.J. Walde, illusion designers Jamie Harrison and Chris Fisher, video designers 59 Productions, choreographer Coral Messam, movement director Lynne Page, and wig, hair, and makeup designer Campbell Young Associates.

Casting for the Broadway production, managed by Jim Carnahan, is yet to be announced.
