Into the Woods takes home award for Best Musical Theatre Album

On February 5th, the 65th edition of the Grammy Awards was held in Los Angeles and was hosted by the comedian Trevor Noah. The event featured several notable presenters, including Tony Award winners and former Tony hosts James Corden and Billy Crystal, and Viola Davis, who achieved EGOT status by winning the award for Best Audio Book Narration and Storytelling Recording.

In the Best Musical Theatre Album category, the Grammy went to ‘Into the Woods’, honouring producers Rob Berman and Sean Patrick Flahaven and principal vocalists Sara Bareilles, Brian d’Arcy James, Patina Miller, and Phillipa Soo. This marks the second Grammy win for Bareilles and Soo, and the first win for Berman, Flahaven, James, and Miller.

Viola Davis won for the audiobook of her memoir ‘Finding Me’, while Lin-Manuel Miranda, along with vocalists Carolina Gaitán, Mauro Castillo, Adassa, Rhenzy Feliz, Diane Guerrero, Stephanie Beatriz, and the cast of the animated movie ‘Encanto’, won for the film’s hit song ‘We Don’t Talk About Bruno’. ‘Encanto’ also won Best Compilation Soundtrack for Visual Media and Best Score Soundtrack for Visual Media.

Tony nominee Renée Fleming won the Grammy for Best Classical Solo Vocal Album for her “Voice of Nature — The Anthropocene.”

In the Best Song Written for Visual Media category, “We Don’t Talk About Bruno” from “Encanto” won, with Lin-Manuel Miranda as the songwriter. The Best Compilation Soundtrack for Visual Media award went to “Encanto,”
