Hugh Jackman Unveils New Theatre Venture Amid Personal Transformations

Hollywood icon Hugh Jackman has announced a major career shift, stepping away from the silver screen to launch a groundbreaking theatre company. The 56-year-old actor, best known for his portrayal of Wolverine and celebrated for his work in musicals like The Boy from Oz, revealed the initiative via social media on Wednesday.

A New Chapter in Live Theatre

Dubbed Together, the upscale venture aims to stage intimate plays and theatrical events in smaller venues across the US and the UK, with plans for international expansion. In his post, Jackman explained that the new company would be dedicated to live theatre that is both “intimate and accessible,” and every production will strive to offer audiences a fresh, engaging experience.

Joining forces with acclaimed West End producer Sonia Friedman, Jackman’s ambition for Together is to create an environment where actors, writers, and directors can experiment and explore their craft away from the pressures of mainstream commercial theatre. The venture also welcomes former Royal Court Theatre director Ian Rickson, whose involvement signals a commitment to high-quality, risk-taking productions. A joint statement from Jackman and Friedman underscored that the project is not intended to replace Broadway or West End but to coexist with and complement them.

Balancing Professional and Personal Change

Jackman’s announcement comes at a time of significant personal change. The star is reportedly finalizing his divorce from Deborra-Lee Furness, ending a 27-year marriage that began in 1996. Amid this personal transition, sources close to Jackman reveal that he is planning to marry his Broadway co-star Sutton Foster, with whom he has rekindled his romance. An insider noted that a reunion over the holidays rekindled the magic between the pair, with marriage emerging as the “end game” for the couple.

Jackman’s journey from celebrated film star to innovative theatre producer reflects a broader evolution in his career—a transition that embraces both professional risks and personal renewal. As he embarks on this exciting new venture, the actor continues to prove his enduring passion for the performing arts, whether on screen or in the intimate glow of a theatre spotlight.

With Together set to reshape the landscape of live theatre, audiences and industry insiders alike are eager to see how Jackman’s latest project will unfold on stages around the world.
