Hitchhiker’s Guide Goes Immersive Riverside Studios to Host Galactic Adventure This Autumn

Don’t panic, Earthlings: Douglas Adams’s beloved sci-fi universe is about to land in west London in spectacular style. An immersive stage adaptation of The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy will take over Hammersmith’s Riverside Studios from 15 November 2025 to 15 February 2026, transforming multiple areas of the venue into a roaming playground of pan-galactic hijinks.

From Pub to Pan-Galactic

Audiences will begin their journey with a seemingly ordinary night in a riverside pub before being swept into a multi-space narrative spanning Studios 2 and 3, backstage corridors, loading bays and bar areas. From there, expect encounters with two-headed ex-President Zaphod Beeblebrox, paranoid android Marvin, interstellar mice and, of course, bathrobe-clad everyman Arthur Dent on his quest to discover the meaning of life.

Creative Team

  • Concept/Producer: Arvind Ethan David, whose screen credits include Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency

  • Co-Directors: Simon Evans (The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel immersive) and award-winning choreographer Lorin Latarro, with Georgia Clarke-Day and David Frias-Robles

  • Set Designer: Jason Ardizzone-West, charged with turning Riverside’s nooks and crannies into everything from the bridge of the Heart of Gold to the Restaurant at the End of the Universe

The production is mounted by Tamar Climan and Prodigal Entertainment, with general management from Smart Entertainment. Buena Vista Theatricals (Touchstone Pictures) is on board as licensing partner, ensuring the piece draws on both Adams’s original novels and the 2005 feature film.

Why Riverside?

Riverside Studios has sci-fi pedigree, having hosted early episodes of Doctor Who. Its maze-like layout makes it ideal for site-specific storytelling, allowing the audience to wander between narrative zones rather than watch from traditional seating.

Tickets and Booking

Tickets are on sale now through the Riverside Studios box office and the show’s official website, with dynamic pricing tiers for off-peak and premium performances. Capacity will be limited in each time slot to preserve the interactive experience, so early booking is advised, especially for cult-favourite dates such as “Towel Day” specials.

What to Expect

Organisers promise a blend of live acting, puppetry, interactive tasks and Douglas Adams’s signature wit. Attendees are encouraged to pack their towels, keep an eye on their Babel fish and, above all, remember: the answer is 42, but the experience will be like nothing else on Earth, or anywhere in the galaxy.
