‘Here You Come Again’ Musical Starring Dolly Parton Hits UK Stage with Star-Studded Cast

The much-anticipated Dolly Parton musical, ‘Here You Come Again,’ is set to make waves in the UK, with its premiere scheduled for this summer at Leeds Playhouse. This musical extravaganza, first introduced to audiences across the Atlantic, features a stellar lineup led by Bruce Vilanch, a two-time Emmy-winning comedy writer and songwriter. Vilanch teams up with Gabriel Barre, who not only co-writes but also directs, and Tricia Paoluccio, who dons the role of Dolly Parton herself.

Adding a local flavor, the show has been adapted for the British audience by the esteemed playwright Jonathan Harvey, known for his work on ‘Gimme, Gimme, Gimme’ and ‘Coronation Street.’ The musical narrates the compelling tale of Kevin, a diehard Dolly Parton fan, whose life is transformed through his adoration for the country music icon. It is enriched with some of Parton’s most beloved hits, including ‘Jolene,’ ‘9 to 5,’ and ‘I Will Always Love You.’

Steven Webb, celebrated for his long-standing performance in ‘The Book of Mormon,’ steps into Kevin’s shoes, sharing a personal connection with his character’s journey. Webb recounts his transformative experience attending a Dolly Parton concert during a challenging time in his life, echoing Kevin’s story of inspiration and resilience influenced by Parton’s music.

This production is a collaborative effort with Simon Friend Entertainment and will run from May 11 to June 8, 2024, in Leeds. It boasts an extensive tour across the UK, touching hearts in cities from Leicester to Liverpool and beyond. The announcement also includes added performances in Cambridge, Malvern, Edinburgh, Cheltenham, Bath, Blackpool, and Liverpool, promising an unforgettable theatrical journey for audiences nationwide.

Details on additional casting and creative team members are forthcoming, as excitement builds for this musical tribute to Dolly Parton’s enduring legacy and the universal message of love and perseverance she represents.
