Heathers the Musical Returning to New York City in 2025
Get ready, New York—Heathers the Musical is making its way back to the Big Apple in 2025! The popular West End production, currently on a U.K. tour, has added NYC as a stop, according to the show’s official website. While it’s not yet confirmed if it will be hitting Broadway or Off-Broadway, or who will be starring, one thing’s for sure: it’s going to be, well, very.
Based on the 1989 cult classic film by Daniel Waters, Heathers the Musical features a book, music, and lyrics by Kevin Murphy and Laurence O’Keefe. The show follows high school student Veronica Sawyer as she navigates the treacherous social scene of Westerberg High with the ruthless Heathers, until a mysterious rebel shakes things up.
The musical first hit the stage in Los Angeles in 2013 and moved Off-Broadway in 2014. This current production originated in the West End in 2018 and has since gone on two national tours, plus an encore West End run this past summer. The U.K. tour wraps up in early October, and the NYC dates and venue will be announced soon.
Produced by Bill Kenwright Ltd. and Paul Taylor-Mills, the show is directed by Andy Fickman, with choreography by Gary Lloyd and a creative team including David Shields on design, Ben Cracknell on lighting, and Dan Samson on sound. The musical direction is led by Will Joy, with Jeremy Wootton as associate music director.
The U.K. cast features Esme Bowdler as Heather Chandler, Sedona Sky as Heather Duke, and Daisy Twells as Heather McNamara, with Jenna Innes as Veronica Sawyer, and Keelan McAuley as J.D., among others.
