Hadestown Teases New West End Cast Recording Amid Exciting Casting Changes

Exciting news for Hadestown fans! The Tony-winning musical’s West End production has teased a cast recording in the works, according to a video shared on Instagram. While an official release date hasn’t been announced yet, the buzz is already building.

Hadestown made its London return at the Lyric Theatre on February 21, and it’s been captivating audiences ever since. However, the big question on everyone’s mind is which cast members will be featured on this recording. Dónal Finn and Grace Hodgett, who played the lead roles of Orpheus and Eurydice, respectively, took their final bows on August 25. Hodgett is now set to star as Betty Schaefer in the Broadway revival of Sunset Boulevard.

With casting changes happening on August 27, Dylan Wood will make his West End debut as Orpheus, and Madeline Charlemagne, who’s been playing one of the Fates, will step into the role of Eurydice. Francessca Daniella-Baker, known for her performances in The Lion King and My Fair Lady, will also join the cast as one of the Fates.

The London production still features Zachary James as Hades, Melanie La Barrie as Hermes, and Gloria Onitiri as Persephone, with a talented ensemble supporting them. This includes Bella Brown and Allie Daniel as the Fates, along with a dynamic group of Workers and swings.

Hadestown, the folk opera set in the underworld, first premiered Off-Broadway in 2016 and made its London debut at the National Theatre in 2018. It then opened on Broadway in April 2019, where it continues to draw crowds at the Walter Kerr Theatre.

The show, created by Anaïs Mitchell, weaves together the stories of young lovers Orpheus and Eurydice, and the mythic couple Hades and Persephone. Its unique blend of folk music and mythological themes earned it eight Tony Awards, including Best Musical and Best Original Score.

The creative team for the London production includes set designer Rachel Hauck, costume designer Michael Krass, lighting designer Bradley King, and more, all contributing to the show’s distinctive and immersive atmosphere.
