Exciting Update on the Mean Girls Musical Film!

Mark your calendars! The highly anticipated movie adaptation of the ‘Mean Girls’ musical, inspired by the Broadway sensation (which in turn was influenced by a beloved movie and novel), has finally revealed its big-screen debut.

Starring in this blockbuster-to-be: Angourie Rice (known from ‘Spiderman: Far From Home’) as Cady. She’s joined by Auli’i Cravalho (voice of Moana) as Janice and Jaquel Spivey (star of ‘A Strange Loop’ on Broadway) as Damian. Fans of the original movie will be thrilled to know that Tina Fey and Tim Meadows are reprising their roles. Meanwhile, Broadway’s Regina George, Renée Rapp, is stepping into the character’s shoes for the screen!

The iconic trio of ‘Plastics’ includes Avantika (from ‘Senior Year’) as Karen and Bebe Wood (of ‘Love, Victor’ fame) as Gretchen, led by Rapp’s Regina. On the romance front, Christopher Briney (‘The Summer I Turned Pretty’) takes on the role of Aaron. Additionally, Jenna Fischer (‘The Office’) and Busy Philips (‘White Chicks’) will portray Cady’s and Regina’s mothers, respectively. Ashley Park, who fans might remember as the original Gretchen on Broadway (and who also featured in ‘Emily in Paris’), has a surprise role in the film.

The buzz is that fans in the UK might soon get to see the stage version hit the West End. This version preserves many of the original film’s iconic lines and showcases catchy tracks like ‘Meet the Plastics’, ‘Apex Predator’, and ‘Revenge Party’. The film’s direction is in the capable hands of the talented duo, Arturo Perez Jr and Samantha Jayne, known for their acclaimed work in ‘Quarter Life Poetry’.

Behind the scenes, powerhouse producers Paramount Players join forces with Lorne Michaels and Fey. The script, crafted by Fey herself, promises to be a treat with tunes by Jeff Richmond and poetic lyrics by Nell Benjamin. And with Kyle Hanagami’s choreography? This is going to be a visual and musical feast!

The film’s US release is set for 12 January 2024. UK fans, stay tuned for your date! Stay with us for more updates on this cinematic journey!
