Death Becomes Her the musical is in the making
Get ready to experience the classic story of Death Becomes Her in a whole new light! An industry reading of the musical comedy adaptation, based on the 1992 film, is set to take place in New York City during the week of April 10.
This exciting new musical follows the story of Helen, a writer who takes revenge on her ex-husband’s mistress, Madeline, after discovering the secret to eternal life. Tony-nominees Megan Hilty, Jennifer Simard, and Christopher Sieber will play the iconic roles of Madeline, Helen, and Ernest, respectively.
The book for the musical is written by Marco Pennette, with an original score by Julia Mattison and Noel Carey. Tony-winner Christopher Gattelli will direct and choreograph the reading, with Mary-Mitchell Campbell serving as music supervisor and Ted Arthur as music director.
Additional casting includes Nicole Scherzinger and Kevin Smith Kirkwood, as well as Marissa Rosen, Nikki Kimbrough, Ellyn Marie Marsh, Abigail Stephenson, Evan Harrington, Josh Lamon, Austin Ku, and Mike Millan.
The reading of Death Becomes Her is hosted by Universal Theatrical Group, the live theater division of the iconic motion picture studio. The original movie, written by Martin Donovan and David Koepp and directed by Robert Zemeckis, is a cult classic and now the stage adaptation promises to bring the beloved story to a whole new generation.
