The complete cast for the upcoming tour of Dear Evan Hansen has been announced. Co-produced by Ambassador Theatre Group Productions and Nottingham Playhouse, this new production will be directed by Nottingham Playhouse’s artistic director and will kick off at the venue on 9 September 2024 before embarking on a UK tour.
The cast features a blend of seasoned musical theatre performers and rising stars. The role of Evan Hansen will be played by Ryan Kopel, with Lauren Conroy as Zoe Murphy and Alice Fearn as Evan’s mother, Heidi. Other cast members include Helen Anker as Cynthia Murphy, Richard Hurst as Larry Murphy, Killian Thomas Lefevre as Connor Murphy, Tom Dickerson as Jared Kleinman, Vivian Panka as Alana Beck, and Sonny Monaghan as the alternate Evan.
This production will be the first in the UK to include an ensemble, comprising Lara Beth-Sas, Will Forgrave, Daniel Forrester, Jessica Lim, Shakira Simpson, and Sonny Monaghan.
The creative team includes set and costume designer Morgan Large, choreographer Carrie-Anne Ingrouille, lighting designer Matt Daw, sound designer Tom Marshall, video designer Ravi Deepres, musical supervisor Matt Smith, casting director Natalie Gallacher, associate director Michelle Payne, and orchestral manager Laura Llewellyn-Jones.
The production team expressed excitement over the assembled cast, highlighting the mix of experienced performers and fresh talent. The tour will open at Nottingham Playhouse on 9 September, running until 28 September, before visiting venues across the UK, including Curve Leicester, Brighton Theatre Royal, Alexandra Theatre Birmingham, Leeds Grand, Liverpool Empire, Sunderland Empire, New Theatre Oxford, and many others.
In addition to the original score by Pasek and Paul and a book by Steven Levenson, Dear Evan Hansen follows a teenager who causes a calamity after pretending to be a deceased classmate’s friend. The production has partnered with The Mix, the UK’s leading digital charity for under-25-year-olds, to provide training to the cast and creative team on appropriately responding to public queries.
The tour will run through April 2025, with stops in major cities such as Manchester, Glasgow, Aberdeen, Belfast, and Cardiff, ensuring that audiences across the UK will have the chance to experience this powerful and acclaimed musical.
