Dates and Venue Unveiled for Hadestown’s West End Debut

The Tony and Grammy award-winning sensation, Hadestown, is set to descend upon London’s West End, casting its spell anew in February 2024.

After captivating audiences with its sold-out run at the National Theatre in 2018, this critically acclaimed masterpiece is making a triumphant return to the UK after five long years. Mark your calendars for the 23rd of May 2023, at 12 pm, when tickets go live, offering you the chance to immerse yourself in the musical brilliance of Hadestown.

Crafted by the Grammy-winning singer-songwriter, Anaïs Mitchell, and brought to life under the expert direction of Tony Award-winner, Rachel Chavkin, Hadestown is an intoxicating blend of music, lyrics, and theatrical storytelling.

Prepare to delve into two legendary love stories – that of Orpheus and Eurydice, and of King Hades and his wife Persephone – as Hadestown takes you on a thrilling journey through the underworld and back.

The creator of Hadestown, Anaïs Mitchell, is brimming with enthusiasm about the show’s return to London. The city, she expressed, has warmly embraced the musical, making this return feel like a joyous homecoming. Mitchell also revealed that invaluable insights gained during its pre-Broadway run at the National Theatre have been integrated into the show, making it an even more compelling spectacle.

The show’s powerhouse creative team includes several award-winning designers such as Rachel Hauck, Michael Krass, Bradley King, Nevin Steinberg, Jessica Paz, and David Neumann, each adding their distinct touch to this captivating production.

Produced by Mara Isaacs, Dale Franzen, Hunter Arnold, Tom Kirdahy, and the National Theatre, in association with JAS Theatricals, Hadestown is all set to reveal its cast for the West End production.

Since its opening in 2016 at the New York Theatre Workshop, Hadestown has continued to wow audiences globally, from Edmonton, Canada, to Broadway’s Walter Kerr Theater, where it bagged eight Tony Awards, including Best Musical.

This modern-day classic now holds the record for the highest-grossing musical and longest-running show in the theatre’s century-long history. As it celebrates its second year of consecutive sold-out performances on its North American tour, Hadestown is all set to announce several encore performances from July 2023.

Get ready to surrender to the allure of Hadestown – a musical phenomenon that promises an unforgettable journey of love, passion, and resilience!
