In a notable casting update, Darren Criss and Evan Rachel Wood are set to take on the lead roles in the Off-Broadway revival of ‘Little Shop of Horrors.’ The pair will step into the roles of Seymour and Audrey, respectively, at the Westside Theatre in New York, with their performances commencing on 30 January.
This casting news follows the departure of Corbin Bleu and Constance Wu, who will conclude their run on 28 January. The production, known for its engaging narrative and memorable music, is an award-winning revival featuring book and lyrics by Howard Ashman and music by Alan Menken. The show is directed by Tony Award-winner Michael Mayer and choreographed by Ellenore Scott.
‘Little Shop of Horrors’ presents a darkly comedic, Faustian tale centered around an assistant florist who finds himself entwined with a carnivorous plant. Criss, returning to the stage, has previously showcased his talent in ‘American Buffalo,’ ‘Hedwig and the Angry Inch,’ and ‘How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying.’ For Wood, this role marks her New York stage debut, following notable performances in musical films such as ‘Across the Universe’ and ‘Frozen 2.’
