Daisy Edgar-Jones Returns to London Stage for Cat On A Hot Tin Roof at Almeida Theatre
British actress Daisy Edgar-Jones is set to make her return to London’s theatre scene in a new production of Tennessee Williams’ Cat On A Hot Tin Roof at the Almeida Theatre. The Normal People and Where The Crawdads Sing star will perform opposite Bob Marley: One Love actor Kingsley Ben-Adir and The Walking Dead‘s Lennie James. The production will run from December 10, 2024, to February 1, 2025.
Directed by Almeida’s associate director Rebecca Frecknall, this revival is one of two major American classics in the theatre’s new season. Frecknall, who previously directed the acclaimed A Streetcar Named Desire starring Edgar-Jones’ Normal People co-star Paul Mescal, takes the helm for Williams’ intense family drama.
In addition, the Almeida announced a new production of Eugene O’Neill’s A Moon For The Misbegotten, starring two-time Oscar nominee Michael Shannon (Pearl Harbor) and Luther star Ruth Wilson. The play, set on a desolate farm in Connecticut, will run from June 17 to August 16, 2025.
Almeida artistic director Rupert Goold described the season as being “bookended by two timeless American classics,” and praised Shannon and Wilson as “heavyweight stars of stage and screen.”
Other productions in the Almeida’s upcoming season include Chris Bush’s Otherland, Ava Pickett’s 1536, and Eugene Ionesco’s Rhinoceros.
