Clueless Musical Set to Dazzle the West End: KT Tunstall Behind the Music
The beloved ’90s classic Clueless is making its way to the West End in a brand-new musical adaptation! Inspired by Jane Austen’s novel Emma and adapted from the iconic 1995 film starring Alicia Silverstone, Clueless tells the story of Cher Horowitz, the queen bee of Beverly Hills High, who delights in playing matchmaker and meddling in her classmates’ lives with charm and flair.
The musical features a book by Amy Heckerling, the original writer and director of the film, ensuring the beloved story stays true to its roots. Adding a fresh musical spin, the show is scored by KT Tunstall, the multi-platinum singer-songwriter known for her hits “Suddenly I See” and “Black Horse and the Cherry Tree.” The lyrics are penned by Grammy Award-winner Glenn Slater, renowned for his work on Sister Act and Tangled. The production is directed by Rachel Kavanaugh (Half a Sixpence) and features choreography by Kelly Devine (Come From Away).
Unlike the earlier off-Broadway version from 2018, which relied on jukebox tunes, this new adaptation boasts an entirely original score. The show recently had a successful try-out run at the Churchill Theatre in Bromley, generating excitement for its West End debut.
With a star-studded creative team and a fresh take on a beloved story, Clueless the musical promises to be a must-see for fans of the film and musical theatre enthusiasts alike. Get ready to return to the world of Cher, Dionne, and all your favorite Beverly Hills High students as Clueless takes the stage in the West End!
