Ariana DeBose Takes Center Stage: Hosting and Producing the 77th Annual Tony Awards

In an announcement that underscores her growing influence on Broadway, Ariana DeBose is set to host the Tony Awards for an unprecedented third consecutive year on Sunday, June 16. The Oscar-winning actress not only will take the helm as the evening’s master of ceremonies but also expand her role to include duties as a producer and choreographer for the event’s opening act.

DeBose, who has previously earned accolades for her performances, including a Tony nomination, has become a familiar face at the Tony Awards, having hosted the ceremonies in 2022 and 2023. Her stewardship of last year’s broadcast garnered her an Emmy nomination for “Outstanding Variety Special,” showcasing her multifaceted talent in the entertainment industry.

The 77th Annual Tony Awards, scheduled to unfold at the prestigious David H Koch Theater within New York City’s Lincoln Center, promises an evening of celebration, recognizing the pinnacle of Broadway talent. The event will be broadcast live on CBS from 8pm to 11pm (ET) and will be available for streaming on Paramount+ in the United States, ensuring a wide-reaching audience can join in the festivities.

In an effort to expand its audience reach, CBS has partnered with Pluto TV to air The Tony Awards: Act One, a pre-show special that will feature the presentation of the first round of awards. Details about this addition to the awards ceremony will be disclosed in the coming weeks.

With the nominations for the 2024 Tony Awards slated for announcement on April 30, anticipation is building for what promises to be a memorable night for the Broadway community and its fans worldwide.

The Tony Awards, a prestigious event that celebrates the best in theatrical performance and production, are produced through a collaboration between Tony Award Productions — a partnership of the Broadway League and the American Theatre Wing — and White Cherry Entertainment. Veteran producers Ricky Kirshner and Glenn Weiss of White Cherry Entertainment will return as executive producers, with Weiss also directing the televised event, ensuring continuity and a high standard of excellence for the ceremony.
