Originally reported by Deadline, six time Oscar nominee Amy Adams is set to play Cynthia Murphy in the upcoming Universal movie adaptation of Dear Evan Hansen.
Adams will be joining a cast that currently includes Colton Ryan as Connor Murphy, Amandla Stenberg as Alana Beck, Nik Dodani as Jared Kleinman, Kaitlyn Dever as Zoe Murphy and Ben Platt in the title role.
Marc Platt and Adam Siegel will be producing the movie adaptation through Platt’s production company Marc Platt Productions. Steven Levenson, who wrote the Tony award winning book for the original Broadway production, will write the script for the movie as well as executive producing alongside Pasek and Paul who sold the musical rights to Universal Pictures.
Complete casting and a production timeline have yet to be announced.
