In a significant announcement today, AKW Productions unveiled the cast for the Broadway adaptation of the critically acclaimed Alicia Keys musical, ‘Hell’s Kitchen.’ Following a successful Off Broadway run, the production is set to grace the Broadway stage with previews starting next month at the Shubert Theatre, heralding a new chapter for this eagerly anticipated show.
The Broadway ensemble features an impressive lineup of talent, including Shoshana Bean, renowned for her performance in ‘Mr. Saturday Night,’ and Brandon Victor Dixon, celebrated for his role in ‘Hamilton.’ Kecia Lewis, recognized for her work in ‘Ain’t Misbehavin’,’ will also join the cast alongside newcomers Chris Lee and Maleah Joi Moon, who are poised to make their Broadway debuts.
‘Hell’s Kitchen’ is distinguished by its compelling music and lyrics by Alicia Keys, with a narrative crafted by Kristoffer Diaz. The production will be directed by Michael Greif, featuring choreography by Camille A. Brown. This team’s collaboration promises to bring a fresh and dynamic energy to the Broadway stage.
The show is scheduled to commence previews on Thursday, March 28, with an official opening night slated for Saturday, April 20. ‘Hell’s Kitchen’ offers a vibrant exploration of urban life, capturing the essence of its namesake neighborhood through the eyes of a young girl. The musical’s world premiere last fall at The Public Theater was met with widespread acclaim, setting the stage for its Broadway debut.
The production’s creative team includes industry veterans such as Robert Brill for Scenic Design, Dede Ayite for Costume Design, Natasha Katz handling Lighting Design, and Gareth Owen overseeing Sound Design. The musical’s aesthetic is further enhanced by Peter Nigrini’s Projection Design, Mia Neal’s Hair and Wig Design, and Michael Clifton’s Makeup Design. Orchestrations are managed by Tom Kitt and Adam Blackstone, with arrangements by Alicia Keys and Adam Blackstone, emphasizing the musical’s rich auditory experience. Lily Lang will serve as the music director, ensuring the show’s sound is both captivating and authentic.
Produced by AKW Productions and with Aaron Lustbader serving as Executive Producer, ‘Hell’s Kitchen’ is poised to become a Broadway sensation. Additional casting details are expected to be announced, further building anticipation for this groundbreaking musical’s premiere.
