Broadway is heading back to Schmigadoon. Alex Brightman and Sara Chase will lead the upcoming stage adaptation of the hit Apple TV+ musical comedy, reprising their roles as Josh Skinner and Melissa Gimble when the show arrives at the Nederlander Theatre in spring 2026.
Previews are set to begin on April 4, with an official opening night on April 20. The limited Broadway engagement will run through September 6, marking one of the most anticipated musical premieres of the 2026 season.
The stage version is directed and choreographed by Tony Award winner Christopher Gattelli (Newsies, The Cher Show), with a book and expanded score by Emmy winner Cinco Paul, co-creator of the original television series. The production follows a successful tryout at the Kennedy Center earlier this year, where Brightman and Chase first brought their screen characters to the stage.
Schmigadoon! blends classic Golden Age musical homage with sharp modern humor, following a couple who find themselves trapped in a magical town where life is an endless musical. The TV series became a fan favorite for its affectionate parody of mid-century show tunes and its ensemble of Broadway powerhouses.
Additional casting for the Broadway production will be announced soon, but with Brightman and Chase leading the charge, Schmigadoon! looks set to bring its joyful satire and big-hearted spectacle to the Great White Way in grand style.
