’13 Going On 30′ Musical to have world premiere in London
The cinematic classic we’ve all been eagerly anticipating is about to hit the West End. Yes, you’ve guessed it: ’13 Going On 30′ is being transformed into a spectacular musical, and London is privileged to host its world premiere.
Announcements have confirmed that this sensational stage adaption will offer a sneak peek at the Battersea Arts Centre later this month. Penned by the original film’s masterminds, Josh Goldsmith and Cathy Yuspa, the musical is under the esteemed production of the ROYO theatre company.
The Battersea showcase, slated between 25th and 28th October, will include four exceptional script-in-hand performances. With the accompaniment of a live band and a stellar ensemble, this prelude promises to be a tantalising appetiser before the grand West End debut, tentatively scheduled for Summer 2025.
In the 2004 film ’13 Going on 30′, Jennifer Garner brilliantly portrays Jenna Rink, a teenager who magically wakes up as a 30-year-old woman. Garner seamlessly combines the innocence of a 13-year-old with the complexities of adulthood, navigating a world of sophisticated careers and relationships.
While the cast remains a suspenseful secret, it creates an air of excitement and mystery. Who will be the next Jenna or Matty?
Goldsmith and Yuspa are clearly thrilled at this endeavour. With their heart and soul poured into the original ’13 Going on 30′, they never fathomed its transformation from a timeless rom-com to an iconic stage musical. Working alongside renowned entities like ROYO, Revolution Studios, and gifted artists such as Alan Zachary, Michael Weiner, and director Andy Fickman, this adaptation promises a fresh take on the story that will undoubtedly enchant both old fans and a new generation.
