AussieTheatre has a double pass (valued at $270) to give away to OperaMania – a brand new production presented by Russia’s finest opera singers at Sydney's City Recital Hall in Angel Place on April 13, 2013.
Moscow Novaya Opera Soloists and Orchestra with dancers from the Russian Imperial Ballet will perform snippets from operas by Tchaikovsky, Puccini, Mozart, Bizet, Rossini, Verdi, Bellini and Johann Strauss in a fully costumed and lavishly staged production.
This program, made up of an uninterrupted series of excerpts carefully chosen to move between comedy, tragedy and lyricism, is performed by singers and dancers in full costume, against a background of colourful lighting and moving images that illustrate the character of the music, and to the accompaniment of the orchestra. The items are short and flow without pause from one to the next in a fast-moving production that offers a kaleidoscope of many of the best-known and most-loved pieces from opera, ballet and symphonic music and reflects their depth and diversity.
– Valery Raku, Resident Stage Director for Moscow Novaya Opera.
The Magic Flute, Rigoletto, The Pearl Fishers, Tosca, The Barber of Seville, Carmen – just some of the operas represented in this innovative new show.
