Don’t Tell The Women by Samantha Cunningham and Madame Bast by Matthew Sini
AussieTheatre has two double passes to giveaway to the Double Bill: Don’t Tell The Women by Samantha Cunningham and Madame Bast by Matthew Sini at the Brunswick Mechanics Institute on Wednesday, 30 March.
Three men walk into a bar… or so the joke goes, however no one is laughing all that much in this examination of how men feel about the women in their lives and how they talk to other men about them. With things not looking so great in the love lives of three men they turn to a pub, some strangers and a game of pool to work things out. Don’t Tell The Women takes a look at what could have been, what might have been and what never was at all in an honest and sometimes uncomfortable chat at the bar.
“The dialogue in this play is complemented by excellent direction, a rigorous understanding of relationship dynamics, the cycle of power and control, and strong acting with a simple and effective set design. ” – Jo Daly, Weekend Notes
Featuring: Mischa Grunenberg, Sam Lavery, Jason Schwab and Jess Stenglein
Jaz is a sassy, outspoken rationalist; she doesn’t believe in god or ghosts or any of that new age mumbo jumbo. But when she jokingly attends a séance hosted by an outrageous psychic medium calling herself Madame Bast, Jaz becomes increasingly haunted by a voice from her past, and struggles to maintain her rationality in the face of the dead not quite staying dead. Madame Bast is a quirky comedy about belief, death…and psychics obsessed with ancient Egypt.
“Sini’s writing is impressive…” – Jo Daly, Weekend Notes
Featuring: Angelique Malcolm, Charlotte Fox, Seon Williams, Mathew Young, Ashley Macklin, Laurence Corneschi and Tamiah Bantum
