Featuring a stellar ensemble cast and as the first major production of the play since 2001, Katherine Thomson’s Diving for Pearls, will take place for three nights only at NIDA Parade Theatres before continuing its Australian tour.
As relevant today as the day it was written, Diving for Pearls is set in a coastal town in the 1980s and follows a working-class couple trying to reinvent their lives. Charting the decline of industry and the loss of livelihoods in manufacturing and mining communities in Australia, Diving for Pearls takes the audience on a journey of drama, humour and emotion.
The cast is headed by Kevin Harrington (THE DISH and TV’s NEIGHBOURS, SEACHANGE and UNDERBELLY) and directed by Green Room award winner Denis Moore who played the role of Ron for the Melbourne Theatre Company’s 1991 premiere.
Diving for Pearls will continue its tour throughout capital cities, metropolitan, regional and remote theatre venues throughout Australia.
