EVITA will star Tina Arena in the title role, with Paulo Szot and Kurt Kansley playing Peron and Che respectively. Michael Falzon and Alexis van Maanen round out the principle cast with Jemma Rix as the Eva Peron alternate.
Featuring some of Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s best loved songs including ‘Don’t Cry For Me Argentina’, ‘On This Night of a Thousand Stars’, ‘You Must Love Me’ and ‘Another Suitcase in Another Hall’, EVITA charts the story of Eva Perón, wife of former Argentine dictator Juan Perón, from her humble beginnings through to the extraordinary wealth, power and status which ultimately led her to be heralded as the ‘spiritual leader of the nation’.
Sydney’s production of EVITA will include the original direction by Hal Prince and choreography by fellow original West End team member Larry Fuller.
EVITA opens at the Sydney Opera House’s Joan Sutherland Theatre on September 13th.
