Opera At Jimbour returns for 2019

In celebration of Queensland Music Festival’s 20th anniversary, 2019 brings a new Gala program of opera to the Western Downs

Since 2003, Opera at Jimbour has been a wonderful partnership between the Queensland Music Festival and Opera Queensland and the Western Downs Regional Council. Each year, the festival brings thousands of people from across Queensland to celebrate music, future and local produce at the historic Jimbour House Estate.

The historical Jimbour House

“We are incredibly proud of our Opera at Jimbour program and are positive that both long-time patrons of the event and newcomers will be delighted with this year’s event changes and the line-up of opera classics,” said QMF Artistic Director Katie Noonan. “Music is for everyone and our carefully curated gala will be a world-class showcase of opera in one of the most picturesque settings imaginable—the warm winter sun and crisp country air on a Queensland cattle station steeped in history. We welcome everyone to come and experience the joy of music and the glorious Western Downs at this uniquely Queensland event.”

This year’s program includes some of Australia’s biggest Opera names such as Rosario La Spina, Sarah Crane, Hayley Sugars, Shaun Brown and more. Coupled with the country experience of food and market stalls, the Opera at Jimbour event is definitely not one to miss.

The festival format promises a full day of entertainment, with gates opening at 10 am for the pre-show rehearsal before the main event at 2:30 pm. There are camping and accommodation options available for those wanting a full weekend away experience.
