A Quick Chat with Natalie Gamsu

Natalie Gamsu will be appearing in her one woman show Misfit, presented by James Anthony Productions at The Vanguard this weekend (9 September).

We caught up with Natalie Gamsu to ask her our AussieTheatre 20 questions:

As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
An actress – corny – I know – but that’s really it. That’s all it’s ever been.

Who is the most important person in the world to you?

What animal best represents you and why?
A panther – sleek and sexy (yeah baby!)

If you were a contestant on Deal or No Deal, how much would you need to be on offer before you walked away?
I know never say never – but I will never be seen on Deal or No Deal!

What was the first piece of theatre/film/TV you ever appeared in and how old were you?
I was the carnival princess on top of a giant mushroom parading down Hoepfnerstrasse in Windhoek at the age of 5 in velvet and satin… I’ve never been the same…

Windows or MAC? MAC Favourite food?
Japanese… sushi… but then the fries at The Rose… oh and the Dosai at Kammadhenu…and the spirulina balls at Dr Earth.

Who is the actor you would most like to work alongside?
Iota or Liam Neeson (mmmmm)

What would be the first five songs you put a mix tape?

What is the best thing about theatre in Australia?
I don’t know – I’m in musical theatre – that doesn’t count – oops – sorry !!!!!! No seriously – it’s the amazing talent!

What’s the worst thing about theatre in Australia?
No TKTS!!! (cheap ticket outlet like in NY).

Name one moment when you looked around, breathed happily and felt content.
Floating through rice fields in India on a rice barge with good friends.

Where is the most interesting place you have travelled?
India… Varanassi…

Who is the most famous person you’ve ever met?
Betty Buckley

Most embarrassing thing that’s ever happened to you onstage?
My skirt fell off during Sunday In The Park With George revealing skimpy knickers… not a good look with the rest of the outfit!

What’s your life motto?
One love fits all

What’s your favourite post-show snack?
Avocado on toast or on a corn thin. Corn thins are a bit sad…

What’s your biggest phobia?
Can’t say because my teeth will go funny and I can’t speak

What is the worst date you’ve ever had?
No… I can’t repeat it… the image is too horrible to conjure up again – so the other one who told me he kept his garbage in the freezer??????

Where do you see yourself in five years?
Phone ringing constantly with interesting and lucrative job offers
