Giving invaluable experience and opportunities to young performers by working with both professional artists and up and coming music theatre enthusiasts, the company have sold out seasons of shows like The Wizard of Oz, Hairspray and Annie, some featuring casts of over 200!

Their latest production – Beauty and The Beast – opens tomorrow night at Riverside Theatres in Parramatta starring the wonderful Scott Irwin as The Beast and Talent Development Project graduate, Kelsi Boyden as the beautiful Belle.

We caught up with Scott Irwin ahead of opening night for a Quick Chat about the show, the arts and his most underrated talent!

A Quick Chat With…

What is your role in this production?

The Beast!

What’s your most underrated or unknown talent?

I can wiggle my ears and pull them back to make an “evil twin” version of myself… I always thought that would land me some major movie role… still waiting!

What makes you laugh?

My crazy girls… wife Danielle and daughter Sienna 🙂

What are you reading?

The Aldi brochure… yep…

The world needs more…

Governments who care more about humans and less about their own popularity.

The world needs less…

Reality TV “stars”

What tools do you need to be creative?

no tools, just relax and let your imagination go!

What takes you to your happy place?

A block of cheese and a glass of red.

What was the last piece of theatre/film/TV that really left an impression on you?

Legally Blonde the musical. Fast paced, slick and snappy example of a modern musical… fantastic performances across the board. This show fell into the category (as many shows do these days) of “it’s better than you think it will be” which is a problem for marketing… it’s hard to get non-theatre goers to part with their cash when this is the case.

There isn’t enough art about …

Love. kidding.

SPORT. Australia would LOVE art about sport!

What three things can’t you live without?

Music, golf and cheese…

Go-to shower belting song?

Funny. I don’t really sing in the shower… never have!

If you could change one thing about the Australian theatre industry, what would that be?

“Prepare 2 contrasting songs that best display your vocal range and ability, NOT from the show” … Just tell me what you want me to sing!

What’s the most used app on your phone?

“Warm me up!” (vocal warm up app)… oh, ok, Words with friends…

What do you wish you had been told before starting in this industry?

Get your own publicist on every show… sadly, profile is the most important thing in our industry… way more important than anything else!
