We catch up with television and theatre star Luke McKenzie, who is set to appear in STILL for Mad March Hare Theatre, Sydney from March 20.

As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
A pilot or an astronaut… I wanted to explore.

Who is the most important person in the world to you?
My narcissistic self says me… If I take care of myself and be the best I can be, there will be more to give!

What animal best represents you and why?
A dolphin represents me well; I like to fool around, but at the end of the day would save someone from a shark attack.

If you were a contestant on Deal or No Deal, how much would you need to be on offer before you walked away?

What was the first piece of theatre/film/TV you ever appeared in and how old were you?
Speaking in Tongues; I was 19

Mac

Favourite food?
Daal Bhat

Who is the actor you would most like to work alongside?
Ryan gosling

It’s progressive

What’s the worst thing about theatre in Australia?
It’s ‘clique-y’

Name one moment when you looked around, breathed happily and felt content.
Valentine’s Day, with my girl on a cliff drinking wine

Where is the most interesting place you have travelled?
22,000 feet up mt Everest

Who is the most famous person you’ve ever met?
John C Rielly/John Malkovich tie.

Most embarrassing thing that’s ever happened to you onstage?
I ate a knob of ginger and had a coughing fit…

What’s your life motto?
NOW! ( it applies to every situation)

What’s your favourite post-show snack?
A nice glass of claret

What’s your biggest phobia?
To be unrealized, unloved. Half baked.

What is the worst date you’ve ever had?
With a Neighbours starlet a couple of years ago… I should have wrote a brief one act parody about it.

Where do you see yourself in five years?
On the phone, producing a second film and fourth or fifth play.

Luke McKenzie has appeared on Rescue Special Ops as Lachie Gallagher, Underbelly: A Tale of Two Cities and many other film and theatre projects in Australia and America.

STILL is Mad March Hare Theatre’s first production of 2012, featuring a star studded cast including Kimberley Hews, Matt Hyde, Beccy Iland,  Kellie Jones, (Melbourne Theatre Company, Queensland Theatre Company) Luke McKenzie, (Rescue Special Ops, Underbelly) Amelia Ryan, and Ben Wood (Bell Shakespeare).
