24 Hour Musical Project 2021
Australia’s only 24 Hour Musical Project returns for its fifth year in 2021. This April, the Project will bring together a bunch of talented (and possibly slightly crazy) theatremakers to learn, rehearse and perform an all-singing, all-dancing musical in just one day. Profits and fundraising benefit the Actors’ and Entertainers’ Benevolent Fund QLD.
2019’s production of an all-adult The Sound of Music marked a high point for the project and this year promises to be just as exciting.
The pure and simple idea is: we announce a show and the curtain goes up 24 hours later.
– Audition the show without anyone knowing what it is
– Cast the show without anyone knowing their roles
– 10 days out, announce a shortlist of 10 show titles, then…
– Each day cross a show off the shortlist, until…
– We announce the show, release the casting and go straight into rehearsal for the next 24 hours straight
Curtain up and away we go!
The rehearsals are an adrenaline-fueled mad-dash to the curtain. The performance is a unique experience; unpredictable and exhilarating for both the company and the audience.
