Ben van Tienen

Ben graduated from Sydney Conservatorium of Music in 2007, earning first class honours and the university medal. He regularly appears as a pianist with Sydney Symphony, Gondwana Choirs, Sydney Philharmonia Choirs, Opera Australia, Auckland Philharmonia, and as guest principal keyboardist for the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra. In the last three years, Ben has toured Australia and Asia as Associate MD on Doctor Zhivago, West Side Story and Chicago. He was also Assistant Conductor on the Brisbane and Sydney seasons of Phantom of the Opera (RUCAP). Other credits in music theatre, opera and oratorio include the Helpmann Awards in 2008 and 2009, The Light in the Piazza (RUCAP/Actors Benevolent Fund), Fiddler on the Roof (TML), Titanic (Seabiscuit),The Gondoliers and Love of the Nightingale (Opera Australia), Puccini's La Rondine (SSO), John Adams' El Nino, Britten's War Requiem and Stravinsky's Symphony of Psalms (Sydney Philharmonia). He is currently Associate MD of WICKED in Singapore.
