As well as being a performer, Matt owns and runs Emptyhead Designs, a web design company specialising in web sites for performers and artists. Matt has a commerce degree from Deakin University, an Arts Degree from WAAPA and a certificate in Web Design from Grenadi School of Design. Some of Matt’s work has included: Schroeder in You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown (Blackbird Productions), William Finn in Elegies (WAAPA), appearing in Opera Australia’s Australian/New Zealand tour of My Fair Lady. Matt is currently performing in the asian tour of Cats (Really Useful Company).

I have just returned to Melbourne after a five week tour to Manila with Cats, (which I am sure you will read about soon enough in an upcoming article) our hotel was about a 30 minute coach ride through the hectic streets of Manila.

The iPhone now seems to be the phone of choice in our industry at the moment. I think currently in our cast of 26 people there are only 2 or 3 that do not have iPhones.

I am sorry about last week’s lack of column. I got back from Slovenia where I was producing  a play Recycled Dreams at a conference for mechanical engineers who are developing jet streams that not only cut through stone, but can also hygienically and without contamination cut through sandwiches without getting them wet I might add!

Another week in London and it seems that everything grinds to a halt creatively until after the festivals. London in general becomes a summer zone where tourists play and locals run for the hills. However despite the tourists town can be a quite nice place to be in Summer with sunny parks and bars overflowing with custom.

So I am still coming down from the Edinburgh high and as a result haven’t seen anything since Saturday where I saw the lovely Aussie Erin Bruce dance and sing her heart out onstage in Honk, a great kid’s musical in which she plays Penny the beautiful swan.

The most interesting story from this week apart from my mobile being stolen outside the Hackney Empire right before I had to go review a show last night would have to have been my experience at the 24 hour plays at the Old Vic on Sunday night.
